His (Or their) responsibility is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. He has the responsibility of creating (Organizing) other worlds and populating them. I do not know why, at least not enough to satisfy the questioner with a satisfying answer.

eg: Artemis -is a Greek god and her job is to protect and help care for the animals of the earth.
