Yes, there was a successful solution to the problem of the Black Death, and it saved the people of at least on city in England.

The people of the time had no idea how the Black Death spread, but in some places they decided to cut themselves off from the rest of the world. In a city with a wall and moat, this was possible. The citizens treated the situation as though it were a military siege, and waited it out.

Today, there are antibiotics that can be used to treat the Bubonic Plague successfully in most cases. These antibiotics first appeared only in the 20th century, and before they came into use, there was no effective medicine that could be used on plague victims. The victims who were cared for had a lower mortality rate than those who were not, and that is about all that can be said. There are links to articles on the bubonic plague and antibiotics below.

The solution of the Black Death was that the Europeans forced all the Jews out of the country. Europeans blamed the Jews and the position of the earth to cause all these diseases. (Sorry... I do not want to be racist against anyone... In fact I have plenty of Jewish friends... :) WORLD PEACE!)

The Black Death was a medieval outbreak of the bubonic plague. Prior to the 20th century, there was no effective cure. Now, we can cure it with antibiotics, if it is diagnosed early enough.
