Space junk falls towards earth fairly often. When a satellite comes to the end of it's life, its orbit will decay and it will eventually fall to earth. The orbital speed of these objects is quite high though, so when they approach the earths atmosphere they burn up and disintegrate from the heat caused by friction against the atmosphere. The team involved will try to aim for a sparsely populated area or ocean, so any remains will land away from populated areas.

This is EXTREMELY unlikely to happen. However, if, for some reason, the Earth were taken off of its orbit around the sun and redirected to fly directly into it, the Earth would be subject to the massive gravitational pull of the sun, accelerating it toward the sun. As it got nearer the sun (not much beyond it's current orbit), solar insolation would cause the atmospheric and surface temperature of the planet to increase, destroying all life. The seas would begin to boil away. As the Earth neared the corona, the atmosphere and then the planet surface would turn to plasma (hot, ionized gas). The sun would also absorb the elements present in (and on) the planet, such as the vast amounts of iron, nickel, and other elements that make up our planet. This would add (perhaps a small amount) to the overall heavy metal makeup of the sun itself, perhaps even reducing its time until nova by a small amount.

Well... If Earth was heading towards direct impact with the sun, most of everyone would die from the extreme heat. Long before impact.or earth might just die.

It would kill all mankind that it currently living on earth at that time but you don't really have to worry about that as long as the moon keeps it's orbital path as a circle around earth

Which factor would most likely cause communications satellite orbiting earth to return to earth from its orbit?

That will happen if the satellite loses energy. This is usually caused by air resistance, if the satellite's orbit is too low.

Moon is to satellite as earth is to What?

If the Moon is to a satellite, then Earth is to a planet. The Moon is a natural satellite orbiting Earth, just like artificial satellites orbit Earth. Similarly, planets are natural satellites orbiting stars, like Earth orbits the Sun.
