Coal is not likely to run out until oil and natural gas have already been used up, so when the coal is gone, the only likely sources of energy will be nuclear energy, geo-thermal energy and the immediate harnessing of solar power, which includes solar cells, wind mills, hydro-electric power, maybe harnessing the tides, and direct use of the sun's radiant heat, perhaps focused in some way with lenses and mirrors in outer space.
