NEVER take it out, the infection will grow if you do, you'll have to have the infection surgically drained. Guns will shatter cartilage, but that doesn't mean it's done it to you. You may have drainage bumps. You need to soak it in salt water for 15 minutes, twice a day till it heals. NEVER clean it with alcohol. And have the jewelery changed, because it is suffocating the piercing.
If the piercing was done with a piercing gun then that should answer the question.
Got my cartilage pierced 4 months ago. I had a keloid, so I switched from the surgical steel that they pierced it with, to gold. It's a hoop. Red and swollen. Keloid is gone and there is no puss. Is it still healing and just irritated? Or could the hoop be too tight?
No............ quit using the Dragon Mist
The symptom of a swollen outer ear can be perichondritis, an ear cartilage infection caused by bacteria. Another symptom is pain. A cause for this condition can be injury of ear cartilage due to factors like cartilage piercing or ear surgery.
I have a lip piercing and play trumpet... While healing, yes especially when its still swollen but after the piercing is fully healed it doesn't affect at all...its as if its not even there!
Clean The Wound With Anti-sceptic Cream, TCP, Warm Salty Water Or Whatever You Used to Clean It When You Got It Pierced. Then Just Leave It. If It's Still Swollen And Stinging In A Week, Get It Checked Out.
Ive had my ear lobe pierced for about 12 weeks, and it just started not getting swollen and sore about 4 weeks ago. So id say about 4-7 weeks
You may have an infection at the piercing site. You will need to visit your doctor asap, or visit an emergency room.
Yes, it will be noticeably swollen for a few days after getting the piercing, and it shouldn't last more than say a week to a week and a half.
When you first get a piercing, redness aroud it is perfectly normal. Depending on where it's pierced will determine how long it's going to stay irritated. Most of the time a piercing will be red for the first 2-4 days and be swollen. If it persists then I'd go back to the piercer.
visit your ear piercing salon where you got it pierced and if they can't do anything to help then they will refer you to your GP so visit your doctor and he/she will tell you what to do. Swelling is not uncommon with some piercings, this can be due to the type of piercing and the location of the piercing. Oral piercings around the mouth will swell this is due to the nature of the tissue that was pierced. Eyebrow piercings can swell and even bruise, this is not uncommon again due to the nature of the tissue being pierced. Your aftercare guide should instruct you on how to treat localized swelling for the piercing you have. Ultimately if you are in doubt if the swelling is normal go back and see your piercer.
I just recently got it pierced and it looks normal and everything with it being swollen, and i do clean it twice everyday but i think the piercing is too small cause i pushed the piercing up to see what it looks like under the flatback and i see that it's starting to dig into my skin just a bit. Is this normal to see during the time it is swollen or should i go back to my piercer and change it?
