It will burst, or shrivel.

The plasma membrane(Cell Membrane) manages what goes in and out. If it doesn't function properly, it will either take in too much water, take out too much water or make no changes.

Takes in too much > Burst.

Takes out too much > Shrivel.

Stays the same > Eventually runs out of nutrients and dies.

We know that the process of generation of energy takes place inside the cell and so it is also called the power house of the cell.So if the mitochondria is defective then the procees of generation of energy wont take place perfectly and the power generated would be either very low or almost negligible.

If the cell membrane fails the cell will most likely die. This may be due to a virus, or bursting of a cell membrane.

if this will happen then cell membrane will allow every thing to through it and this will ultimatily damage the cell (cell could also burst producing toxic enzymes)
