Elements, as in the Periodic Table of Elements, are each a collection of subatomic particles which have stuck together in a stable pattern to form an atom.

If there were no elements and no atoms, then substances would not exist. There would be no Hydrogen, no Helium, no Lithium or any other element. And there would be no molecules, and there would be no organic chemistry and no people.

The universe would thus consist of nothing but a swarm of unjoined sub-atomic particles. It would be invisible since no eye could exist to see it. And nobody would be present to witness or measure it.

What will happen to the periodic table if more elements will be discovered in the future?

If more elements are discovered in the future, they will be added to the periodic table. New rows will be created in the table to accommodate these elements. The properties and characteristics of these new elements will be studied and used to expand our understanding of the natural world.

What do you think would happen if the unknown substance contained a mixture of two elements?

If the unknown substance contained a mixture of two elements, it would exhibit properties that are a combination of those two elements. Its physical and chemical properties would be unique to the mixture, and further analysis would be needed to identify the specific elements present in the substance.

Are there fewer elements than compounds?

No. There are only a hundred or so naturally occurring elements from which many, millions of compounds are made. A compound is a combination of two or more elements. There are far more compounds than there are elements.

What would happen if you didnt have the periodic table?

Without the periodic table, scientists would have a harder time organizing and understanding the properties of elements. It would be challenging to predict how elements would react with each other and to develop new materials. Progress in chemistry and other fields reliant on the periodic table would be hampered.

How do two elements combine together?

Two elements combine together through a chemical reaction where their atoms interact with each other to form a compound. This can happen through sharing or transferring of electrons, resulting in the formation of chemical bonds between the atoms of the two elements. The properties of the new compound are different from the properties of the individual elements.
