Medieval archery was pretty simple, there was a target, made of wood or sometimes it was just a mark o a tree. The bow was carved from wood and the string was generally made from twine. the arrows were carved from wood or a extremely straight stick, the end generally had some sort of birds feathers. It depends on the distance and the type of wood. Pine is soft but Iron wood is hard and the pellet may not penetrate it. The further you are from the target the less energy the pellet will have when it strikes.
