hard fault code
What is a hard fault code?
Any problem with the car that affects its emissions will cause the light to come on and stay on until the problem has been fixed. (There are literally dozens of possible causes.)
no gas entering piston chambers or no spark in the spark plugs. I assume the starter is spinning the engine?
After repairing the cause you can reset with a scan tool or by unhooking the battery.
it may be your air intake flow hose it may have an escape and doesn't allow the vehicle to get the right amount of air flow into the engine it may also cause the car to run rough and jerk as it shifts
In order of probability: Low or incorrect fluid, over-revving engine while shifting, valve body issues (including solenoid failures)
this happened to my 98 intrigue, i replaced the spark plugs and hasn't happened yet...worse case scenario you might have to replace the spark plug wires as well but I've only replaced the plugs and its fine.
Most likely loss of refrigerant.
what engine?
A blinking "check engine" light is an indication that the computer has detected a SERIOUS problem that can result in permanent damage to the engine. You need to connect a diagnostic code scanner to find out what the computer has detected.
Check the codes if the SERVICE ENGINE SOON light comes on. There are numerous sensors that control the ignition, air/fuel mix, and timing, and possibly it is one that has gone out of spec. Your fuel pump could have failed, or could be any number of other parts. You can borrow an OBD-II reader from a number of auto parts stores if you can't get the car to the store. Mine was due to the crankshaft position sensor, the service engine light soon did come on
The ECM monitors components of the motor. If their is a problem with one of those component, it lites up and notifies you of the issue. If the issue is repaired the lite will disappear. How ever in rare cases their could be wiring problems. Stop by one of the car part outlets and they have a tester that can look at the codes. Or look on the internet for the manual way. Good luck.
Do you mean a 3.5L? I don't believe the Intrigues came with a 2.5L. Also came with the 3.8L. The light will stay on for at least 5 cycles in the case of a misfire throwing a code. That has happened to me on a few occasions. You can also go to Autozone and they will read and clear the codes for free. The light may never go off until you clear it if it is from another cause.
