Well oxygen can support fire so yes. But maybe worse is the end snapping of and it becomes a 100lb steel rocket that will shoot through walls.
It doesnt matter what gas is under pressure in the tank, it still has a huge amount of potentail energy. If the gas happens to be explosive like acetylene obviously it could get bad.
not unless the gasoline tank is punctured and sparks are created, but normally the combination of oxygen and gasoline is not combustible under controlled conditions. But I don't suggest impacting a gasoline tank with anything for safety reasons.
A contact with hydrogen or organic compounds at a high temperature.
Not directly, no. Oxygen is not explosive nor flammable. On the other hand if the tank broke open near an open flame, there would be one gihugic fire!!
Yes, a tank of oxygen can be half full. The oxygen would be stuck in said tank meaning no more oxygen can get in unless refueld.
It should not explode. With what would the oxygen combust? About 20% of the air is oxygen. Oxygen does not readily combine with itself. However, if you put a spark into a cup of liquid hydrogen, I bet it would react rather violently. And there is a YouTube video of a fellow igniting charcoal with liquid oxygen. The oxygen does not explode, but the fire burns the charcoal really well. And the barbecue. And eventually the ground below the grill.
Oxygen tank.
They are both diatomic gases. Hydrogen will explode in oxygen to produce water.
Yes, it is possible and many accidents occured.
The oxygen tank exploded two hours after takeoff. They could not fix it.
There is no reason for gasoline to explode in a tank. There is no heat or spark source in there. But the basic answer might be that there is little to no air (specifically oxygen) in the tank.
No. An oxygen tank punctured by a bullet will fly around wildly, but it does not explode like a bomb. Incidentally, Mythbusters aired a "Jaws Special" episode, July 17, 2005, where they investigated this.
Apollo 11 did not explode. Apollo 13 had an explosion on board in an oxygen tank. The first Apollo mission, Apollo 1, had a fire when on the launchpad which killed 3 astronauts.
The external tank is dropped once the fuel is used up in the tank.
Sure, things can explode in space as long as there is an oxygen source as well as something that will combust. A good example is the explosion on Apollo 13. There was an explosion when a spark occurred in the electric motor that stirred an oxygen tank in the service module.
my jaw dropped open when i say the fireworks explode in the sinky twilight
the tank may explode
the tank may explode
The bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were atomic bombs and not nuclear bombs and were designed to explode above the ground and not on impact.
yes it might but depends on how big the tank is, it might not explode the flame might grow bigger but you really have to test to see what will happen and using carbon dioxide might be dangerous but really fun cuz it makes this pop noise its really cool
It went off within the minute.
