Excessive thirst could be from excessive salt consumption but is probably indication of a kidney problem if it is accompanied by excessive urination.
I suggest that you consult with a qualified veterinarian.

I think it can get colic
horses should drink plenty of water especially if they are eating hay all day, you should have atleast a 15 ltr bucket in a horses stable at all times and always keep your stable clean even when the horse is out just incase of an emergency ...
A sweat scraper is used after bathing a horse. It scrapes the water off the horse's body to allow him to dry much faster.
Good question. Horses, like people and most living things, need fresh water every day. A good indicator that your horse is needing water is gently pinch some hide on the side of his neck and then release. If the skin doesn't return to normal or is slow to return to normal he probably needs water. If he is very hot he may want to drink several buckets full. Dont let him. Give him small amounts slowly over an hour or so. And make sure that the water is not too cold. Too much cold water in an over-heated horse could give him colic or he could 'tie up'. Footnote-tie up usually happens when a horse has had too much exercise or different exercise than he is used to. The horse will stiffen up and not really want to move or walk.

Foundering is when a horse eats to much fresh grass after not having any for a long time. What your thinking of is colic which is when a horse hasn't had water for a day or two and is allowed to drink a lot of water at one time. If this happens do NOT let them roll make them walk in till they stop trying to roll.
