You'd kill the patient in either case.

I read the instructions on the dialysis machine Fresenius sells for home use. The bag is supposed to contain saline. (They also use reverse-osmosis water, but that comes in through a different port.) Dialysis is a very complex balancing act, and NaCl level in the dialysis solution is a big part of the balance. If it gets too low, it'll suck the salt out of the patient's blood and kill him quick.

But twenty percent concentration? Normal Saline for Injection is only 0.9 percent, seawater is 3.5 percent...the brine you use to make pickles isn't even 20 percent. If you put that much salt in the solution, it would migrate across the membranes, raise the guy's sodium concentration and, once again, kill him quick.

The distilled water will begin to flow into the bag in an effect called osmosis.

What would happen if distilled water were substituted for buffer in either the chamber solution?

distilled water does not contain ions, without ions it can not produce and electrical charge. In other words DISTILLED WATER does not conduct electricity.

Just plain old distilled water? You'll get dilute Benedict's. Benedict's looks for sugar, and if there isn't any it won't react.

In a hypotonic solution like distilled water the onion cell would "swell up" and the cytoplasm expands and water diffuses into the cell

What happens if you put wilted celery in distilled water?

Distilled water is a hypotonic solution. Due to diffusion, water wants to go into the cell to reach equilibrium. Whereas, a salt water solution (hypertonic) would make the water leave the cell. So, if you put "wilted celery in distilled water" then water would diffuse into the piece of celery; making it become harder.
