True story: Once I had an ano-rectal abscess about the size of a softball. The doctor did not have time to give me any anesthesia and couldn't numb the area with a shot (risking internal rupture of the abscess.) Fifteen minutes of sheer agony followed as the doctor excised the region. I know what the worst torture feels like, now. Bamboo under the fingernails? PUH-LEEZE! I'll take that any day over having my "belows" cut out like so much bologna! I grabbed the table so hard, I broke a finger.
