The current Pirates franchise began as the Pittsburgh Alleghenys, a team in the American Association in 1882. The Alleghenys moved into the National League in 1887 and changed their name to Pirates in 1891. the ball park they played at at first was recereation park from 1884 -1890 . they then moved to forbes feiled from 1909-1970
then they moved to three river stadium from 1970-
