Even though she was inspired by the 'Gibson Girl' of the 1890's and longs to wear puffed sleeves which were the fashion at that time, in the last book she is middle aged with grown children during WWI so she would had to have been a child in the 1880's. The mini-series however is set in the 1890's with the puffed sleeves etc. Here in lies much confusion.
