Usually Toyota makes sure that you can't do that. Even some models will not have compatibility within one model. If you want to replace the engine you need to look at 97-99 model years.

it should go right in. I have worked for Toyota for a number of years and I dont see a problem there. Just keep in mind if you have a 4 cylinder use a 4 cylinder trans. Same goes true for a V6

Even if it had some problems like that it was fixed many years ago. Usually all problems are fixed after 1-2 years after a new model was released.
Hi, You are out of luck since the body style of your Camry 97, was the first design for that generation. 96 and earlier were the same down to 92. Your car should be able to use 98 99 quarter panels. You should be able to get it through the Toyota dealers, but porbably costs you an arm and a leg..Good luck..

There is no strict rules about that. You need to inspect hoses periodically. But when you have a car which is 10 years old you might need to change all vacuum hoses around the engine.
