The Italian invasion of Abyssinia(modern Ethiopia) 1935-36. The Italians invaded this small country as a revenge for their defeat there in 1896 and as part of their plans to expand their colonies. This small regional conflict eventually involved Great Britian, who had colony in the area to protect their use of the Red Sea and Suez Canal. Eventually, this would expand into the North African campaign with the British fighting the Germans that did not end until early 1943.
