Grid computing is a service for sharing computer power and data storage capacity over the internet. The computers connected to the grid through network can be heterogeneous(that is the computers can have different hardware and OS) unlike cluster computing where it is mandatory that all computers should have same hardware and should run same operating system.
Cloud computing or grid computing depends on the task at hand. If you want to focus on a single enormous task, then go with grid computing. Cloud computing is more for multitasking.
