Depends: The Alliance To Men: The shattered Alliance still survived the Third War, and although most Human kingdoms of the original Alliance of Lordaeron fell (Such as Stormwind, Stromgarde, Alterac and Lordaeron itself, with Kul Tiras weakened), Stormwind was rebuilt, and now men are through tough times of war and unstable peace with the Horde. To Night Elves: After the loss of their source of magic and their acclaimed immortality by loss of the World Tree, the Night Elves rebuild their society without the blessed magic provided by the Well of Eternity provided by the World Tree at Mount Myjal. They have a strong alliance with the kingdom of Stormwind and the dwarves of Ironforge, and the recent Dranei. To the Dwarves: They suffered a lot during the Third War, since their mountains held hostage of Alextrasa, the dragon queen. The recently claimed mountaious region of Kaz Modan stays as one of the oldest capitals for their race. To the Gnomes: (I'm not a fan of them, so short their history is) Their prime capital fell during the Third war, and now they survive in Ironforge with their Dwarven allies. To the Dranei: Escaping yet another refuge world from the vile hands of the Burning Legion, the mysterious Dranei land in Azeroth, only to be violently attacked by Prince Keal'Thas and his blood elven bretheren. They joined the new Alliance, attracted by the Light wielded by the men of Stormwind and the stout dwarves of Ironforge. The Horde: To the Orcs: Led by the brave, wise shaman Thrall, the orcs have rid themselves of the demonic bloodlust that crazed them. Although free from their taint, they still have a love for battle and a sense of honor that surprises outsiders. They now strive to rebuild what they destroyed...and make a new home in a world that is hostile to them. Trolls: They lived for a long time, and they are chief allies to the Orcs. Joined them during the Second War. Tauren: A very old race that used to be in very good position with the night elves of Ashenvale. Very calm and hospitile, they are fierce warriors and powerful advesaries when aroused. They joined the Horde to repay Thrall for helping them survive vicious raids from hostile Centaur. Forsaken: Undead who were free from the Lich King's mind control. They joined the Horde, although much of the orcs, tauren and trolls largely distrust them. Blood Elves: Once noble High Elves in favor of the Alliance, they were torn apart from the Scourge's attack and destruction of their homeland. Driven crazed and furious of their losses, they joined the Horde, abandoning the Alliance, and setting a new goal for their people...the destruction of the Scourge. And the third faction, only half-playable. Scourge: Reeking with undead nightmarish creatures, some gruesome and tough as Abominations, and some nightmarish, subtle and deadly as Wraiths and ghosts...these enslaved souls have no will of their own, and serve one creature that desires nothing more then eradicating humankind, and the Horde if needed. That's its story: In itself, it's a huge MMORPG with more then ten million players all over the world. It has been prised for its excellence and storyline. And disliked because of it's addictive qualities.
