Hot take: The first sentence of 1984 is overrated. My favorite is from Slaughterhouse-Five: "Listen: Billy Pilgrim has come unstuck in time." It's not the first line of the book, but it's the first line of the real story, so I think it counts.
'It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.
“In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.”

“In those days cheap apartments were almost impossible to find in Manhattan, so I had to move to Brooklyn". The opening sentence from Sophie's Choice by the great William Stryon. I loved that opening line. It was from this opening line that I was able to determine that I was in the hands of a talented writer. It's still the best book I've ever read, and I've read many.

That’s a very subjective question I think. Personally, I love the already mentioned quote of 1984. There are also many other opening lines I cherish, but that’s more because I love the book itself and am excited to start reading it (again), not because the line in itself is so great. I’d say a good contender would be the inimitable Charles Dickens in “A Tale of Two Cities”: “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.”

A good title would depend on what the book is about, if it has no plot or story line and is only about gymnastics then call it gymnastics but if it is not then create a unique or nice name talking about what the story line is {what the book is about}.
