The problem is the plastic parts integral to the airbag/horn unit in the steering column. The plastic bits contract when cold and cause the horn's switches to contact. Once it starts, the only solution is to replace that assembly, costing around $800. Good times. Sometimes it will turn off when warm, like in the dealers garage, so the problem cannot be replicated, and then the car wakes up the entire neighbourhood at 3am again until you pull the fuse. I have same problem. Relay overheats. Did you find an answer?
Hi, I had this problem on a 2000 Alero. Had to disconnect the battery to shut it up. G.M. replaced the horn relay to aleviate the problem. Duke

Oil Filter 2003 Alero V6 3.4L part no. 3387
i have a 2003 olds alero i need to know the location of the camshaft sensor
Thermostat sticking. Replace thermostat and gasket.
When playing with the electrical system to a car, it is important to have a diagram. A diagram for a 2003 Alero can be found in online forums and in maintenance books.
It does not have a distributor cap.
The thermostat is located on a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero in the thermostat housing. The thermostat housing is located on the rear side of the engine block.
The Lower Intake Manifold gasket. Do a search on that in Google, the Chevy Malibu and the Pontiac Grand Am and the Alero all have the same motor with the same problem. Yay!
