The last step is to specify the location for the chart. It can be on the current sheet or you can create a chart sheet for it.
In Excel a Gantt chart is the equivalent of a bar chart. Having put in the data you need into the spreadsheet, you then start the Chart Wizard, by either going to the Insert menu and picking the Chart option or clicking on the Chart Wizard icon on the standard toolbar. Then you can pick the bar chart and continue with the process of creating your chart with the Chart Wizard. There are various options you can pick. Which ones you use will be down to your own preferences.

Actually, within Excel you must have the spreadsheet prior to creating a chart. But, the advantage to creating the chart is that it gives the viewer more of a visual story of what is occurring, instead of just a list of data or numbers.
You do it using Charts and the Chart Wizard.
The original spreadsheet, or you can get the chart to have a data table attached to it when you are creating it.
Pick your Chart TypeChoose your Source DataPick the Chart Options, which includes legend and titlePick the Location for the chart, which can be embedded or on its own chart sheet
Normally the first thing that is done is that the data is selected. Then you would start the Chart Wizard. However, it is possible to start the Chart Wizard first and select the data later.
A pie chart can have only one series. So you need to select one series, with labels if you have them, and then start the Chart Wizard. You can then choose the pie chart you want and make whatever changes you need as you are creating it.A pie chart can have only one series. Select the range of values that you've entered into the spreadsheet that you want to have represented in the chart. Click on the Chart Wizard option which is near the right end of the standard toolbar. When the Chart Wizard opens you will be given a choice of different types of chart to use. Pick one of the Pie Chart formats and then proceed through the following stages, picking whatever additional options you need. When you finish, you will have your chart.
When you are creating a chart using the Chart Wizard you can choose where to put the chart, either on an existing Sheet or on one of its own. You can also Cut and Paste a chart from one worksheet to another.
It is faster. It is more accurate. You have the source data available to you. The chart responds to changes in values and automatically changes. It is simple to put in titles, labels, legends etc. onto the chart. You don't need to do any calculations yourself to create the chart in a spreadsheet. For these and many other reasons, it is easier to use a spreadsheet than doing a chart by hand.
