Consider a graph paper with Axis X and Y. Cart travel in X direction but suddenly, the cart change direction and so it must reduce velocity on X and increase velocity on Y. Net velocity might be the same but small acceleration and deceleration is apply in 2 dimension motion.

Does change in direction cause acceleration?

Not necessarily. Changing direction does affect the velocity, which is acceleration and direction combined.

What is the difference between acceleration and velocity?

-- 'Velocity' is the rate at which position is changing, and the direction of the change. -- 'Acceleration' is the rate at which velocity is changing, and the direction of the change.

What distinguishes the measurements of speed from that of velocity and acceleration?

Velocity = speed, and the direction in which it's happening Acceleration = rate at which speed is changing, and the direction in which it's changing

Can an object with constant speed be accelerating?

Yes. 'Acceleration' means either speed or direction is changing. If direction is changing, then there is acceleration, even if speed is constant.

If you speed is not changing but your direction is changing are you accelerating?

Yes; acceleration is any change in velocity - speed, or direction.

Velocity and acceleration related?

Acceleration is the rate at which velocity is changing, with the direction of the change.

Why is changing direction a type of accleration?

There are two parts to acceleration: direction and speed. When either of these aspects are changed, then acceleration changes.

What is the different between velocity and acceleration?

Velocity . . . what speed and direction something is moving. Acceleration . . . how fast the speed and/or direction of its motion are changing.

If there is a constant velocity of 30 ms. What is its acceleration?

Unless the object is changing its direction, it is not accelerating. Constant velocity implies that speed and direction are constant, and for acceleration to occur, either speed, direction, or both values must be changing.

Acceleration is how fast a velocity is changing at a specific instant?

Yes, plus the direction that it's changing in.

Can a body moving at a constant speed have acceleration?

Yes. Acceleration is any change in velocity. Velocity is a vector quantity because it includes both speed and direction. Speed is a scalar quantity and does not include direction. Therefore, if your motion is changing direction, then you have a changing velocity regardless of your speed. And a changing velocity means you have acceleration.

Changing direction is an example of a kind of?

Acceleration
