You can make it so it does either increase or decrease. The limiting factor is that power out cannot exceed power in. So going to a higher voltage will limit current and going to a lower voltage will increase current available.

Because AC is continuously changing in a sinusoidal waveform, it is hard to determine the exact voltage. It is usually called by it's RMS value (Root Mean Squared).

The result is that when you fully rectify an AC voltage, the DC voltage is actually HIGHER than the RMS AC voltage.

How do you convert 23 voltage DC to 230 Voltage AC?

Why doesn't a transformer convert AC into DC?

transformers increase or decrease voltage. converters have rectifiers inside, which change ac to dc Transformers are devices that operate on the change in magnetic field, That change in magnetic field only induces an AC voltage/current into the secondary winding. From there it must be rectified to obtain DC, and is very often filtered to make it usable.

Why is rectification needed?

To convert AC voltage to DC voltage.

Who to increase torque of ac motors?

ac voltage

Is tranformer used to increase or decrease AC voltage?

The function of any transformer is to change one AC voltage value to another AC voltage value. A step down transformer will transform a higher AC voltage to a lower AC voltage. A step up transformer will transform a lower AC voltage to a higher AC voltage. The transmission of electrical power uses both of these types of transformers. From the generation station the voltage is stepped up to a very high transmission voltage and at the end of the transmission line it is stepped down to a voltage that consumers can utilize.

Is the capacitor used in the ac system to reduce line voltage?

Usually capacitors in an AC system are there to improve the power factor. Transformers are used to increase or decrease line voltages.

Does centre tap transformer convert ac voltage to ac voltage?

Yes. Transformers convert power by stepping up or down voltage. It doesn't matter what tap configuration they have.

How do you increase or decrease voltage?

This question makes no sense as written. However, maybe it will help to know that for a given load if you increase voltage the current increases proportionally and if you decrease the voltage the current decreases proportionally. Ohm's Law says Voltage = Current x Resistance.

Why ac drive convert ac voltage in dc?

It is done to control the speed of the motor.

Which component slow down the current in circuit?

An inductive load can cause current to lag voltage in an AC circuit. An increase in resistance will decrease amount of current flow.

How do you conyert AC to DC?
