Best Answer

Ordinarily, atoms are electrically neutral, for they have an equal number or electrons and protons. If however, some of the electrons have been stripped off, then the atom will have a nett positive charge. In this condition, it may be accelerated and steered by electrical forces. (Or magnetic forces as well.)

What has a positively or negatively charged particle of an atom?

In an atom, protons are positively charged and electrons are negatively charged. If the number of protons and electrons are equal, those atoms are said to be neutral. If they are not equal, it has formed an ion with the net charge.

Who said that there are small negatively charged particle's inside an atom?

not positive but jj thomson

What is a charged atom?

A charged atom is an ion. A positively charged version is a cation and a negatively charged one, an anion.

What is the charge of the electron of an atom?

The electrons in an atom are negatively charged, the protons in an atom are positively charged and the neutrons of an atom are neutrally charged (they have no charge).Hope this Helps!

Are electrons the positively charged particles in an atom?

In an atom of antimatter, that would be true, in an atom of matter that would be false.

The nucleus of an atom is charged?

The nucleus of an atom is charged positively by the presence of protons

What a negative charged atom?

A negatively charged atom is called an anion, which is an atom that has more electrons than protons.

Does an atom have a charge?

It depends on the atom. An atom is made of 3 subatomic particles- a negatively charged electron, a positively charged proton, and a neutral neutron. If the number of electrons and the number of protons are different, then the atom has a net charge. If the number of electrons and the number of protons are the same, then the atom is said to be neutrally charged. Changing the number of neutrons affects the mass and therefore important traits of each atom, but does not affect its charge. Atoms that have a net charge are called 'ions.'

What happens when an atom loose an atom?

If the atom loses electrons, the atom becomes positively charged because the number of positively charged protons.
