The place with most Tornadoes is called Tornado Alley and is located east of the Rocky Mountains and north of The Gulf of Mexico.

With all due respect, it was not where, but when.

They can happen any time of the day or night. There seems to be a higher % in the afternoon or later afternoon and evening as the sun's energy heats up the atmosphere to make it unstable enough to create a multitude of reaction.

I am a trained skywarn/weather watcher in the state of MN, I have been taking classes and been a volunteer for 22 years.

Tornadoes have appeared all over the US, as well as world wide but in other parts of the world they have other names that they call them.

~

Additional to add: To answer WHEN. Any time night or day. Depending on the area of the world/country, it can be any time. When our northern winters ( SD/MN) have blizzards, snow storms and extreme cold, that would be safe to say NOT THEN. We have had them as early as March and as late as November.

Southern states can have them year round.

Conditions of the atmosphere have to be in correct alignment and all heck can blow apart.
Tornadoes form when Thunderstorms begin to rotate, becoming supercells. This rotation can then tighten and intensify to produce a tornado.

Tornadoes can happen at any time of year and at any time of the day, but most often occur in spring and early summer and in the hours from 4pm to 9 pm.
