An astral projection is an instance of someone attempting to detach their mind from their body, or to have a ghostlike replica of one's body and send it to distant places or alternate realities, such as in people's dreams.

Technically yes. The Astral body is a an intermediate between the soul and the physical body that is composed of subtle material.

Astral refers to a non-physical "above/out of body" perception. It's up to a individual to then influence such a state.

Astral Travel basically means an out-of-body experience. It's the separation of the physical body and the capability to travel outside of it. It can also be considered the separation of the spirit body.
Can you make physical contact with someone else having an out of body experience at the same time as you?
No. If you are both out of body and meet on the astral plane you can interact in a manner that is very real, but it is not a physical contact. Even if you are both in the same place physically when you enter the astral plane, you are not technically "in" your body, therefore your contact is not "physical".

No. Astral projection is a natural occurence and happenes every day when you dream. Your physical body needs rest but your spirit or astral self does not. My first astral travel experience was wonderful and made me realise that it cannot be dangerous for body or mind what so ever. as you are fully in control at all times, you are the one that makes the decision to go and do what it is that you want. Some people say that you can get "lost" and die. This will never happen as you are connected to your body by natural forces that make it impossible for this to happen. Mind over matter.
