When can you fly after appendix removal?

I had my appendix removed 10 days ago now. When i asked the doctor if i can drive, he had a little think about and said:

"well, how much do you love your car? How would you feel if you crashed it."

Obviously, you would be upset for smashing up your car.

He then said

"if the car in front of your breaks, do you feel cofident that you will be able to do an emergancy stop?" I said no, not yet, so he said don't drive yet then.

I went to the doctors today, told them i had finnshed my tablets, they said i didn't need anymore, blar de blar. So i asked, once again, if i could start driving. And she aked:

"do you feel like you could do all your manoeuvres, in a safe, sensible mannor?" This time, i said yes, so, she said, well, maybe you can start to drive again.

So 10 downs down the line, from having my appendix removed, i am finally starting to get back in the car, obviously i wont be doing many miles, just, A to B trips for now, until, the "aching" pain has gone.

So my answer to your question is, YES, you can drive after, but, leave it, for 10-14 days, as we don't want to rush into things and damage our insides even more now do we!

(obviously everyone is different, so, people heal different, and you may feel it might take longer to start doing your normal things again, this is only a guideline from someone with no knowledge really in Appendicectomy, only from what i have experianced for myself)

You need at least 10-14 days recovery after any type of operation. Also depending on where you fly too, you may want to build in extra days just in case treatment in country is expensive or poor quality should there be complications.
