If you mean the house where she lived before going into hiding, it was a new, upscale apartment block in South Amsterdam catering to upper middle class families and businessmen. The apartment was very nicely laid out, and with good views. It has been restored to it's original look, but I am not sure if it is open to the public at his point.

Anne Frank and the others living in the Annex visited the front part of the house at night after it was dark because they weren't allowed to use the bathroom, lights, heaters, etc during the day. It was sort of an escape for them to be able to leave the cage that was their life.
