Beethoven started losing his hearing around 1800-1802. Sometimes he could hear and sometimes not. He was very ashamed of being deaf as a musician and wanted to attempt suicide. He cut the legs off of his piano in order to feel resonance. A lot of Beethoven's music has a full bass because it was easier for him to hear. Eventually he went completely deaf. People would write things down for him to read and he would speak back to them.

he forced Beethoven to play the piano and would beat him if he refused to play. Beethoven's father didn't let him go to sleep all night but his father did that when he was drunk.
No. Beethoven, like most of his contemporaries, did not go to college. Colleges are a relatively modern institution. Music students in the 1700s and 1800s may have sometimes received instruction in conservatoriums, but Beethoven was not one of these.
