Yes, and he won it for us too
He came second in 1968 with Congratulations and fourth in 1973 with Power to All Our Friends. There is some doubt that the winner in 1968 (Spain with La La La) was not the subject of jury-rigging by General Franco; if that were so, the Cliff would have been the true winner but, as it stands, he only came close.
He never won it. He performed in it in 1968, singing "Congratulations" and again in 1973 singing "Power To All Our Friends".
Cliff Richard came 2nd in 1968 and 3rd in 1973.
They finished in 5th place.
'its my time' sung by Jade Ewen came fifth in the Eurovision song contest held in Moscow, Russia in 2009. It became the most successful entry in the Eurovision song contest from the UK since 2009. The song itself was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Diane Warren specifically for Eurovision.
Engelbert Humperdinck, who represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012, came last-but-one with only 12 points in total. The only other country with fewer votes was Norway, with just 7 points.
They came 25th out of 25 countries.
It's pretty clear from a scan of the Eurovision winners (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Eurovision_Song_Contest_winners) that ABBA's Waterloo (the winner in 1974) is by far the most successful song to come out of the contest. It charted in the top 10 around the world (including the US and Canada) and peaked at number one in many countries including the UK and most of Europe. Interesting footnote: one exception was Belgium, where it never charted at all. (The actual battle of Waterloo in 1815 was in Belgium.)
Romania came 19th out of 25 countries in Eurovision 2009.
They finished in 5th place.
The United Kingdom have come 2nd in the Eurovision Song Contest on a record 15 occasions to date.
Ireland has won it more times than any country, but the Eurovision Song Contest does not have a home. It will be held in Ireland again, the year after Ireland next win it.
Norway has come last in Eurovision 11 times, the most out of any country.

ABBA's winning 1974 entry "Waterloo" is most likely to be the biggest international hit from the Eurovision Song Contest.
