Jonathan Edwards was a Theologian, Preacher, and a missionary to the Native Americans in the 1700's. He was known to defend the Reformed theology of Christianity. He also was a firm advocate of the Enlightenment.
Edwards actually never went to Harvard. He enrolled at Yale in 1716 and graduated in 1720. He was also the President of the College of New Jersey (currently Princeton University) but was only in office for one month before he died of a small pox innoculation. Oddly enough, he did the innoculation to influence the student body to take their innoculations! Ironic huh?
