When did Matthias replace Judas?

At Peter's insistence (since he was the leader of the Apostles in Christ's absence), they replaced Judas by casting lots. This is recorded in Acts 1:26 "And they drew lots for them, and the lot fell to Matthias; and he was added to the eleven apostles."

Acts 1:14-26 detail the account of Matthias being appointed as an apostle to replace Judas Iscariot, but he never actually became an apostle, because the Lord never chose him, Peter did. Apostle Paul was the one ordained by Jesus Christ to replace Judas. Galatians 1:1 - "Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)"

The apostles had some kind of a draw by casting lots - Acts 1:23-26 "And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen, that he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place. And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles." They prayed to God "which knoweth the hearts of all men" but they only gave him two men to choose from, and God, as we know, chose someone that the Apostles would never even suspect. Matthias was a good disciple, no doubt, but he was never an apostle, and there is not a word of him again after this incident.

Jesus had been resurrected to heaven and the apostles went back to Jerusalem, to the upper room where they were staying. There they cast lots to decide if Barsabbas(Joseph/Justus) or Matthias would replace Judas, and Matthias was chosen. (Acts 1:23-26)
