People keep claiming Tesla but ... nope. Not even close. He'd write about the phenomenon in 1886 but it was well known and documented by then already.
Edison filed a suit that stated that Tesla could not use those for the electric fair in 1893 so he made his own.

Tesla did not make the Flourscent bulb. In 1859 Alexandre E. Becquerel did. Tesla wanted to make use of them and discussed them at length decades later. But he did not discover, or invent them.

He invented the alt. current generators which lights up the whole world among other things.
The lights were very fluorescent.
