When did filmmaking begin?
In the 1890s when the first motion-picture camera was invented.
Watching movies being made, and understanding the process required to begin the actual filming process could be compared to watching sausage being made. The end product can be wonderful, but the process is filled with setbacks, political differences, swaps in and out of key players, and so forth: not so wonderful. Once you understand the filmmaking process -- beginning to end -- you'll feel differently about films.
