Silly Putty was made by James Wright in 1943 when he accidentally dropped boric acid and silicone oil together. This was during World War II, scientists were looking for a replacement for rubber. (Silly Putty didnt make it as a replacement by the way)
In 1943 James Wright, an engineer, was attempting to create a synthetic rubber. He was unable to achieve the properties he was looking for and put his creation (later to be called silly putty) on the shelf as a failure. A few years later, a salesman for the Dow Corning Corporation was using the putty to entertain some customers. One of his customers became intrigued with the putty and saw that it had potential as a new toy. In 1957, after being endorsed on the "Howdy Doody Show", silly putty became a toy fad. Recently new uses such as a grip strengthener and as an art medium have been developed. Silly putt even went into space on the Apollo 8 mission.
In 1945 silly putty was invented by accicdent, by Ava randell. When she was trying to invent rubber dough. She inproved the design from rubber to funky colours, smells ect. This was very popular in the 1940s, Every kid on the streets of London was playing with this fun sticky, coloured dough. But one day, a kid came up to Ava and said that the dough was SO sticky that it got stuck on this roof when he was throwing it up and down in his room. So Ava got back to work and made a beteer design that was less sticky. Every since 1945 other people have been making putty, But we all have to remebr that Ava randell was the true inventer of the putty we have and love today.
It was invented in a scientist's laboratory in 1943 and introduced to the world in 1950.
