how has the development of mass media influenced the American culture?

Mass media has had a tremendous impact on American culture. - Mass media unified the countries culture, now, a person in California can see the same shows and people as a person in New York or Texas. -It has eroded local culture- with the rise of mass media and an overall pop culture, some people began to lose interest in the local customs and traditions of their region. - It has eroded faith in the government and established institutions- Before, people's opinions of the government had been largely based on what the government and the people around them were telling them. Now every time the government gets caught in a scandal it is quickly broadcasted to every person in America. - It has displaced traditional forms of entertainment- Now Americans often go see a movie or watch tv instead of going to see a play.

What is a plotting devices?

A plot device is the main fabric, occasionally bent or twisted of the story line of a short story, novel, play or film. Certain plot devices were taboo for movies and later TV. These included interracial romance ( also called Miscegeneation), Suicide in most cases, Revenge in modern times, Homosexuality and Lesbianism, and some others. An intriguing plot device that has had a rather cold reception ( pun intended) is Suspended Animation which can blend Science Fiction with legal and social issues.

Why do people have deceptions?

Since there is makeup, fashion and hair styles that we learned from in movies, books, fantasy and television shows. we begin to decept people and ourselves from what we see ourselves as. when we begin to play around with makeup etc, we start to make a character up for ourselves, just like how theatre people do. they put on their costumes and they begin to feel like a whole different person. we start to play the part of the style/life style we live or what to look like. Example: We see a women with piercings and tattoo's. We automatically think she's the rocker type, because of what we perceived from television. But, in fact she is a nurse at a children's hospital. We're all just taking a lead role in our own lives and putting on costumes that make us feel like we are something. Which makes us unable to know ourselves, our true selves. That is my opinion on Human Deception. p.s I made up the word, " decept. " You should get what i'm saying
