Never. There won't be a theatrical sequel to Tangled. The 2012 short Tangled Ever After is the closest thing that will ever be a sequel.
The writers got together to plan one but realized she cut her hair so to quote "it's over", however in June 2015 it was announced a TV series would be developed for the Disney Channel for a 2017 premiere. The series will take place in the three years between the events of the movie & 2012 short.

∙ 10y agoThe 6-minute short feature was aired on March 23, 2012 and was included as a bonus feature on the Diamond Edition DVD of Cinderella. There is no confirmation yet but it may be featured on a subsequent Tangled release.
As of 2013, there was no full-length sequel being developed, but one could eventually be produced as a Disney direct-to-DVD feature.
