There was a pause following the signing of the START treaty to allow stockpile reductions, but the US is now beginning a cycle of replacement of everything still in the stockpile with brand new designs of nuclear weapons. The stockpile size will continue to reduce to meet the START limits, but eventually this will all be newly made and the old ones fully retired.
