The ascension of Mary is not biblical. Nowhere in scripture does it say that Mary ascended like Jesus. This is a dogma that, over the years, has been invented by the Roman Catholic Church and has no basis in fact nor scripture. Mary's departure, body and and soul into heaven is called her "Assumption" as the Ascension is reserved for Christ, for ascension denotes the action is done by the person's own power. The exact date of the Assumption is not known, though tradition dictates that eleven of the apostles were there, St James the Greater having already been martyred in 44 AD.

Catholics believe in both Scripture and Oral Tradition and thus the fact that the Assumption does not appear in The Bible is of no concern. What proponents of Sola Scriptura should consider is that omission is not denial. Christian tradition has always held the Assumption as true; even the Orthodox retain it though having split hundreds of years before it was confirmed by a doctrinal declaration of the pope. Worthy of note, especially to Protestants who point to the despicable practice of Catholics and their alleged "idol worship" regarding relics is that no church has ever claimed to have the body of Mary, something quite astonishing since Mary is the saint par excellence and certainly her mortal remains would receive great honour should they have been on earth. No church has ever made such a claim since her assumption has always been widely believed by Christians throughout the centuries and any assertion of possessing her body would have not been taken seriously. The assumption also makes sense doctrinally; since Mary was free of Original Sin, she would not be liable to the punishments of sin such as decay or death though some theologians believed she voluntarily died before her assumption to better unite herself to her Son and His sacrifice.

First off, Mary did not ascend into heaven, she was assumed. To ascend means to rise under one's own power. Mary was taken into heaven.

There are two possibilities, both of them allowed under Catholic doctrine:

1.) At the end of her life, Mary did not die but was taken directly into heaven.

2.) Mary died and within a short time her body was taken into heaven. Apocryphal writings favor this scenario. It is said that the Apostle Thomas was unable to arrive at Mary's bedside before she died. He arrived three days later. When they took him to Mary's tomb, it was empty.

In either case, Mary's body was not subjected to corruption.

No, to ascend means to rise under one's own power. Mary was taken, or assumed into heaven by the power of God, not by her own power. Only Jesus ascended into heaven.

It is not known when exactly she was assumed into heaven, though one can be pretty sure it was somewhere between 30 and 60 AD.

She did not ascend as Our Lord did. The difference being ascension is of one's own will where as assumption was through the Will of God.

There is no known date when, or if, Mary died. There are two views, both acceptable by the Catholic Church:

Mary did not die but was assumed, body and soul, into heaven.

Mary died and, within a short period (probably ~ 3 days) her body was assumed into heaven to be reunited with her soul.

Tradition says that when Mary was near death the apostles were summoned. All arrived in time except Thomas, who arrived three days late. When they took Thomas to the tomb, it was empty. Only her burial cloths remained.

Mary did not ascend into heaven, she was assumed (taken) into heaven. It is celebrated on August 15, the feast of the Assumption.

No, Mary did not ascend into Heaven, she did not have the power to do that. She was assumed into Heaven - taken into Heaven by Our Lord.
