Best Answer

The best time for pruning up the rose bushes is in the month of Oct- Nov. Prune the plant early in the morning, just about 2inches above the nodes. For best flowering always trim your plant after ever flower has withered. Trim the branch to half but remember to trim it 2" above the nodes.

Pruning should be done before the plant really starts to bud out in the Spring. To encourage new growth, this is the best time. For shaping, anytime the plant is dormant will work. If you don't catch it then, pretty much anytime after the first round of flowers has bloomed.
