Guys voices usually deepen when they go through puberty. Girls also go through physical changes that change the quality of their voice, but it usually does not cause their voices to drop significantly in pitch like happens to guys. Think about it a moment - when you listen to them, can't you usually tell the difference between a grown woman and a little girl just from how their voices sound?
