Why did ABC cancel scrubs?

The ones who left include J.D., Elliot, Carla, The Janitor and more. In fact, the only staples left on the show in season nine were Bob Kelso, Dr. Cox, and Turk. However, in season nine the show's reviews started getting more and more negative, and eventually ABC cancelled it due to lack of viewers. This is understandable however, because I know everything about scrubs, but even I stopped watching when I saw the first few episodes of season nine. Completely Horrendous.
