When is Kirsti brave?

Kirsti from Number the Stars is brave when she is walking with Annemarie and Ellen and the guards stop her to talk Kirsti shows she is brave and mostly doesnt care because when one of the soldiers fut thier finger through Kirstis hair and curls it she pushes the hand away and says DONT. I think this shows Kirsti is kind of brave.
