Star (or wye) connection is where each of the three phases has a fourth conductor, neutral, as its current return. Current flow in this configuration is phase to neutral, which is also grounded back at the distribution center. There will be five total connections, phase A, B, and C, neutral, and (protective earth) ground.

Delta connection is where each of the three phases uses the prior phase as its current return. Current flow in this configuration is phase to phase, and there is no neutral, though there is still a ground. There will be four total connections, phase A, B, and C, and (protective earth) ground.

That would happen when a three-phase motor is used. It can be connected in star or delta dependig on the manufacturers' instructions.

What is a forward-reverse star delta?

A forward reverse star delta is a two in one motor starter where a motor first runs on star connection and then changed to delta connection after a time which has been set. The motor direction can be changed, whether forward or reverse

What will happen if induction motor is in star-star connected?

If a motor is connected in a star configuration it will operate at a slower speed. This is the working process that a star delta starter operates on. At first through the starter the motor starts in the star connection. When the motor gets up to its highest speed in that connection it times a timer out , the star starter drops out and the delta starter pulls in and then connects the motor in the delta connection. This allows more voltage to be applied to the motor and it then speeds up to its nameplate rated RPM.

How do you wire a three phase motor with two speed?

Star and delta connection

Why use star delta gether for motor?

In a large power motor the starting current is too high if connected 'direct on line'. If you start a motor on 'star' connection it uses less current to get it going before the 'delta' connection takes over.

How do you convert star delta connection to delta star connection?

hahahaa

What is the star delta working principle?

when starting a 3 phase induction motor, first start with star connection, because reduced current is being applied and after start change it to delta connection then. full line current is applied to the motor.

What are the advantages of using star connection?

The inrush current is reduced. This is the reason for star delta starters. Motor starts on star and after about 10 to 15 seconds, depending on the load of the motor, it switches to a delta configuration to run.

IWant to see the connection of the daigram Star and Delta connections?

Google star delta motor connections. If a motor is wired in star-delta (Yd), it starts up with lots of torque and then switches over to delta for normal "running". This is because the start-up current per phase when delta connected is much larger than star.

How many contactors using in star connection of motor?

two contecter <<>> There are three contactors used in a Star Delta configuration.

How will the speed and the slip of the motor change with increasing load in star wye and delta connection?

the speed decrease if increasing load..in star connection the speed lower

What is the difference of a star or delta connection on motor terminals?

230/400 V These motors can be connected in star to a mains of 400 V between the phases (see figure 1). figure 1 Star connection 400/695 V These motors should be connected in delta to a mains of 400 V between the phases (see figure 2).

Why you make initially star-connection then delta-connection?

This type of motor starting is used to reduce the inrush current to a lower level. Once the motor is operating at the lower level of run current it changes to a delta connection which allows the motor to operate at its full load amperage rating.
