Chinese New Year refers to the holiday 中国新年(ZhōnɡɡuóXīnnián) in China, which is often called Spring Festival in China. It begins on the 1st of January and ends on the 15th of January of the lunar year, which is called 正月(zhēnɡyuè) in Chinese. Spring Festival is the most important and biggest festival in China; during Spring Festival, everyone and every family decorates their homes, and friends and family reunite. Besides this, there are many different customs throughout the country to celebrate the festival. You can feel the festive atmosphere much more than any other Chinese festival. For Spring Festival, there are many celebratory activities and traditions, such as lighting firecrackers, guessing lantern riddles, and posting New Year pictures and calligraphy. Personally, I find guessing lantern riddles really interesting; there are so many different riddles written on the lanterns. If you can guess one, you will get different kinds of beautiful candies. When I was little, I always felt very happy when I guessed one right.
