I have a 2001 RAV and will be changing them this week at 99K+ miles...
The rear are shocks the front has struts. Rears shocks are a snap to change. Front struts should only be changed if you have the proper tools and knowledge as it can be dangerous.
Struts in the front, shocks in the rear.
Struts.
They have shocks.
I paid $900 for shocks/struts and bushings. I was told that was the "brother in law" discount.
The 1999 Toyota Camry has struts on the front and rear of the car.
Actually your Camry has struts but many people refer to them as shocks. Struts are used instead of shocks because they are more effiecient and last longer.
I have a 92 Toyota Camry (same model as yours) and they have struts on all four.
Struts and/or shocks are shot.
do they have very large coil springs around them? if they do then they're struts. shocks usually dont have visible springs.
I believe they should be struts, not shocks. The only difference is where the bracket is for the brake line, the strut itself is the same.
Yes it should have front struts and rear shocks.
