No the turbo runs off of exhaust, then forces the compressed air through the engine.

The 350 turbo is a good transmission but the 400 turbo will take more abuse.

No. The turbo needs to be rebuilt. Basically, the bearings and seals in the turbo have worn out, allowing the engine oil that typically flows through to leak into the burning hot exhaust. This often causes excessive oil usage with accompanied smoke from the exhaust.
I've seen 6.0 VGT turbo rebuilding service for around $300-330. Not including damaged parts.
Yes it will make your life much easier to have the turbo ecu and harness. The turbo injectors have a resistor pack that the non-turbo engines do not use. So that would have to be manually wired in to use stock turbo injectors and ecu.
for ever! just take care of it. non turbo dont add a turbo its a low comp motor turbo will make it a high comp motor and blow your gaskets keep it stock u will see 500k plus i promise you that
