i have a lancer 2004 and my mechanic recommends I change it every 6 months and that timeframe makes sense if you want to keep the life of the transmissions longer because CVT transmissions in Lancers are sometimes troublesome if you dont maintain it

A 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer typically requires Mitsubishi Diamond ATF SP-II or an equivalent automatic transmission fluid. It's important to check the owner's manual for specific recommendations, as some models may also be compatible with other fluids. Always ensure the fluid meets the necessary specifications to maintain optimal transmission performance.
To change the transmission fluid in a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer, first, ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and securely lifted. Remove the transmission fluid drain plug and let the old fluid fully drain into a catch pan. Replace the drain plug, then use a funnel to refill the transmission with new fluid through the dipstick tube, checking the level as you go. Finally, start the engine, let it run for a few minutes, and check the fluid level again, adding more if necessary.
