My Toyota Rav4, 2003 with 30,000 miles need shock and struts. I do not drive my SUV hard. Do you think they may have been defective from the factory and if so, who do I contact? I have talked to the dealer and they gave me your web site.
Struts on a car are a shock absorber that prevents the car from bouncing. A socket wrench is required to change the struts.
If it's a 98 or prior, It will have shock's all around which you can do yourself easily.

The Struts are the shock absorbers that include the spring. They are commonly referred to as McPherson Struts. Most cars now have Struts on the front and rear instead of the simple shock absorbers.
Taurus sedans have STRUTS that combine the springs and shock absorber/dampers. A skilled home mechanic can remove the struts but it's best to have a shop with a proper strut compressor separate the spring and thedamper section. Taurus wagons have STRUTS on the front, and separate, conventional springs and shock absorbers on the rear. Generally a home mechanic can change these shocks.
The 1995 Buick Skylark is equipped with rear shock absorbers. There will be struts on the front of the vehicle.
A 2001 Chrysler LHS has suspension struts.
1996 Explorers do not have front struts. They use torsion bars as springs that require special tools to remove and conventional shock absorbers that are easy to remove.
They are a replacement for shock absorbers and springs (suspension)
